My love of the body is contagious. It is my greatest joy to share my experience and help others feel better, reduce pain and live with more ease, freedom and strength.
—Movement & Touch Heal
I’ve been a mover all my life. Dance was my original love and I was fortunate enough to have done this as my first career, traveling nationally and internationally. Like many of you, an injury introduced me to Pilates. My physical therapist incorporated the Pilates Reformer into my rehabilitation, I was hooked. I finished my original comprehensive Pilates certification training at Power Pilates in New York City in 1999. After relocating to Richmond, I immediately began teaching Pilates and taught at Core Pilates Richmond for seven years before deciding to embark on my own attempt at studio ownership. I opened Re:form Richmond Pilates in 2013. In 2015 my husband’s job took to us to live abroad in China and Singapore, what a life changing adventure. Upon return in 2018, my feet hit the ground running with continued studio ownership and a life long dream of going to massage therapy school. In 2020, I passed my licensing exam through the Virginia Board of Nursing and became a Licensed Massage Therapist.
After living with increasing sciatic-like pain for over five years, a rare tumor was discovered on a nerve in my lower back in 2022. After a very arduous surgery and a long pit stop in the hospital I was dealt the hand of rehabilitation. It took me over a year to gain my strength back and it was hard. I believe everything, especially adversity, is an opportunity to learn and grow. The experience of living with long term pain, surgery and rehab gave me so much more empathy in working with individuals living with pain and minimum fitness. Using a multi-tiered approach to my own strength program, I realized that I wanted to approach my teaching in a new way.
In early 2024, I closed my studio doors to focus more on teaching, less on the busyness of business. These days, I roam around Richmond teaching at various locations; Pilates Plus and Exquisite House Pilates & Wellness. I practice massage therapy out of my Monument Avenue location.
It is my mission to support you in feeling better in your body using a multidisciplinary approach to fitness and wellbeing. A movement session with me may incorporate Pilates, functional mobility joint training, mindfulness/breath work, strength & conditioning and cardio. I truly believe that movement and touch can make the world a better place.
